The Radical Surface Issue – reimagines the ‘human surface’ and various material and immaterial surfaces – skins – as sites of contestation and transcendence. Inspired by ‘radical imagination’ – ideas stemming from activism – as a visionary capacity to perceive a future world that transcends current realities, envisioning a transformed and equitable society, challenging the status quo, and believing in the possibility of radical change.
During the evening, you can look forward to a performative reading by Jimena Casas and Constanza Castagnet, activating Nicholas J. Saunders’ texts Shimmering Worlds: A Sense of Brilliance and The Lightness of Being. Together they will explore the reflective qualities of sound and light, evoking through voice, field recordings and experimental sampling the multidimensional brilliance that embodies an expression of divine presence. The improvisational dialogues refract one another as the resonance and reflection of light and brilliance unfold.
