Business Manager

We are looking for someone with an affinity for the business side of a cultural organisation. Someone who understands the inner workings of – and enjoys – fundraising and finding partnerships in both public and private realms. Someone who is passionate about improving financial health and diversifying the income streams of our foundation. Someone who feels at ease with numbers and budgets, and for whom an excel sheet is a natural habitat.
The business manager will become part of the core team and provide support for the financial management of Current Obsession/Jewellery in Culture Foundation. This position is open for growth within the organisation, potentially leading to the role of a Business Director.
Main responsibilities and duties
– Creating strategies and future plans in collaboration with the director and translating these plans into relevant budgets
– Drafting and managing project an annual budgets
– Shaping the future organisational structure and long-term financial strategy of the foundation
– Fundraising and reporting to grantors, in collaboration with a fundraiser
– Maintaining relationships with partners and grantors
– Developing and implementing a vision on Fair Practice, Cultural Governance, Diversity, and Inclusion
– Preparing annual accounts and financial evaluations in collaboration with the bookkeeper
Profile and Requirements
As a business manager, you will maintain close contact with the creative director, the supervisory board and the team. You will continually communicate with colleagues about your progress and planning. The ideal candidate will find it fulfilling to play an integral role within our small and unique organisation and contribute to the diversity of the Current Obsession team.
You
– Communicate clearly in English and Dutch, both verbally and in writing
– Have experience in the cultural sector
– Reside in the Netherlands, preferably in the Amsterdam area
– Are flexible and are able to work additional hours occasionally
– Can oversee and manage the business side of a cultural organisation
– Are structured and keep an overview
– Are responsible and thorough
What we offer
We offer a position for 8 to 12 hours per week. The duration of the appointment is to be determined. We offer a market-based salary (initially on a freelance basis), depending on knowledge and experience.
