“Be who you want to be” is the motto that Yichen’s collection personifies. It is her personal response to a contemporary sense of identity. Such jewellery pieces as “I am a Ring” and “I Married an Ear” are powerful stereotypes of generic jewellery forms. Defying their original uses, they augment in shape and size, so as to confound our expectations. In the process, they become what they want to be.
