Xinyi Wang

Xinyi Wang moved from China to London and gained a BA in Jewellery Design from Central Saint Martins, England. Over time Wang has developed an interest in the interplay between art, bodies and emotions. Her work is impacted by themes of tradition and modernity, recognising the influence of different cultures on her practice.

Her graduate collection meditates on the synergy between plastics and humanity by creating jewellery that sweeps and rests against the skin but mimics the altogether different materiality of plastic. Wang’s ethereal use of silk organza and fish scales explores the concerns and issues of micro plastic pollution of the oceans and the excessive use of plastic packaging.
