Yu Fujiwara

Originally from Japan, Yu Fujiwara was trained as a painter and contemporary jeweller at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, Belgium. Fujiwara reinvents and alters some of the most common objects of our ordinary lives to bring a glittering of the unexpected to what was once thought of as everyday.

Fujiwara’s attraction to familiar objects and her taste for precision defines her artistic practice. The pieces have arresting combinations of materials and forms, which as a result, can’t help but disrupt our normative thinking and cause us to perceive everyday life through a new and provocative prism.
